The Institute of International Education (IIE), Office for Latin America works closely with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and with other offices of the US Embassy in Mexico, in administering the largest U.S. State Department-supported EducationUSA Advising Center in Latin America, promoting U.S. higher education by offering comprehensive and objective guidance to qualified individuals on how best to access educational opportunities in the United States. IIE interns work in the EducationUSA Advising Center, hosted by IIE/Latin America, in assisting with advising students, as well as with the Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC) who provides leadership and expertise in educational advising issues to advising centers and U.S. Embassies throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. As the main EducationUSA Advising Center in Mexico, IIE receives approximately 103,000 requests for information annually. It provides information concerning all subject areas at the high school and all higher education levels in the U.S. through its extensive collection of reference materials. The Advising Interns assist the Educational Adviser in providing the following services: · Advise the general public and Mexican institutions about educational opportunities in the United States. · Conduct research on specific topics related to US study for use within the advising center. · Support students interested in studying in the U.S. through personalized advising sessions, internet and publication research assistance and guidance throughout the application process. · Foster communication with students. · Revise and deliver PowerPoint presentations about U.S. study at public information sessions. · Manage event promotion and registration. · Provide updated center information for various advising related websites.

Gallery Intern

Intern Wallspace Gallery (New York NY) Wallspace is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and professional candidate for a part-time internship to begin at the end of May. Gallery hours of operation are Tuesday Saturday between 11am and 6pm, and the intern is scheduled to work one to two days per week within these hours as well as during opening receptions. Interns duties are evenly dispersed amongst different areas of activity so as to grant an intern a general introduction to the day-to-day responsibilities of a contemporary art gallery. Duties will focus on but are not limited to: - Archiving: Maintaining image database, file naming and sorting. - Archiving: Updating press and exhibition history on artist CVs. -Archiving: File organization and data entry. - Marketing: Maintaining and customizing contact databases. - Marketing: Formatting press reviews and archiving. - Operations: Maintaining office supplies and all print materials made available to the public (press releases, checklists, maps & guides) - Event Planning: Preparing for and attending opening receptions and related events In addition to possessing a strong interest in contemporary art, applicants must hold a bachelors degree in art history. Mandatory basic skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and some Adobe Photoshop. Attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to multitask under coexisting deadlines, and a genuine desire to learn as much as possible about working in a contemporary art gallery are absolutely necessary. A successful intern will gain exposure to the efforts that come together to comprise a contemporary gallery space. Upon successful completion of the internship, the internship supervisor will serve as an ongoing reference and recommendation for future employment opportunities. JOB TITLE: Market Research Intern REPORTS TO: National Marketing Director & Creative Director SUMMARY The Market Research Intern position is a seasonal role, based out of the Chicago office. The primary responsibility is to assist the National Marketing Director and the Creative Director prepare for upcoming marketing plans nationwide. As a member of the marketing team, the intern is expected to take a thoughtful approach to tasks, to analyze and think creatively about each market, and to voice their opinion about the information they gather. Tasks include, but are not limited to: * Conduct research on multiple universities and their student populations * Compile contacts within the university and community as assigned * Conduct social media research on school clubs and competitors * Consult and partake in the management of the overall social media strategy * Organize results of study survey focus groups * Research and communicate local trends, attitudes, style, and consumer habits * Provide insight on how students are using technology and social media * Conduct secret shop phone calls and emails of area competitors * Sourcing articles to support new marketing strategies and initiatives * Fact checking and data entry * General office management and organization * Tasks assigned by your supervisor The role will last approximately ten weeks, at 40 hours/per week or 400 hours total. The work is salaried, with students receiving $5,000 for the summer work (which works out to $10/hr). We can be flexible with summer vacations/etc, as long as the total of 400 hours is met. Pay is given every two weeks.
