Fall 2013 Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Internship

Background on NYRR Our goal is to use the expertise acquired in our 53-year history to empower all people to live fitter, healthier lives through participation in our races, community events, instruction and training resources, and youth programs. Our races and other events draw more than 300,000 people each year. The ING New York City Marathon, NYRRs premier event, is the largest and most inclusive marathon in the world, attracting the worlds top professional runners every year and raising $30.8 million for charity in 2010. NYRRs running-based youth programs, which currently serve more than 100,000 children in hundreds of schools and community centers, promote childrens health and fitness, character development, and personal achievement in underserved communities. All candidates should be organized, team players with a personable manner, sense of humor, excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, and should have the ability to work with a diverse group of staff and participants. Description of Account Management Internship The Account Management team, part of the Business Development and Strategic Partnerships Department, is seeking a Fall intern for at least 30 hours a week from mid-late August through December. The Account Management team is responsible for client relationships associated with the ING New York City Marathon and other NYRR events. The intern will assist with the planning of NYRR weekly race events (Gretes Great Gallop, Fifth Avenue Mile, Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff, Race to Deliver, etc.) as well as various marketing aspects of the ING New York City Marathon. The intern will assist the Account Management Team with the following responsibilities: Weekly Race Events (including but not limited to): Setup and create agenda for all meetings & walkthroughs (internal and external) Creative Elements Communications Recaps Race Day Packets Marathon Related Responsibilities could include: Monitor sponsor guaranteed entries Assist in consolidating partner ticket/credential needs Provide general support to Account Management team Coordinate internal meetings Assist with creative briefs Support Account Management team with sponsor activations Coordinate with Client Services on partner activations Intern Project The intern will also have the opportunity to design and complete an internship long project. The intent of the project is to expose the intern to various areas in order to gain a better understanding of the department and NYRR while completing a project that supports a department initiative and could be applied in the future.

CK-12 College/Grad Math and Science Interns

CK-12 Foundation (www.ck12.org) is seeking math and science interns to work on one of two projects (described below) with our Content Team. CK-12 is a non-profit organization that generates and distributes high quality educational STEM content through its FlexBook® Platform. This is a paid internship. ALL APPLICANTS SHOULD BE PURSUING UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE STUDIES IN MATH- OR SCIENCE-RELATED SUBJECTS. PROJECTS MATH AND SCIENCE ANSWER KEYS Work with content manager to complete the answer keys to exercises and questions for CK-12s Math/Science Concepts. Applicant should have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Good writing skills are required. RESEARCH AND COLLECT EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES Work with Book Manager to research and vet educational artifacts across the Web that will enrich CK-12s Math/Science Concepts. As part of this project, you will focus on identifying embeddable resources / ancillaries for CK-12s Math / Science Concepts. INTERACTIVE LEARNING OBJECTS DEVELOPMENT Create templates, storyboards, and scripts for engaging interactive learning objects based around CK-12s Math/Science Concepts. Applicant will be working in a team with education/instructional design interns. In your cover letter, provide a brief proposal for an idea for an interactive learning object and the key objectives that the interactive learning object should achieve. Experience with Photoshop or other design software a major plus!
