We work with parents of college bound students everyday and hosts workshops and webinars to educate parents on how to be highly efficient with their money while they enter into the most expensive time period of their lives, sending a child to college. Beatrice Schultz is the founder of Westface College Planning and also the host of the weekly radio show on KDOW 1220 am, College Smart Radio Tackling the Runaway Costs of College. College Smart Radio covers a wide variety of issues related to understanding the true cost of college, how to prevent overpaying for a college education and how parents can not only help their students pay for college, but still afford retirement down the road. This internship is an unpaid part time position for a college student or graduate who has an interest in gaining work experience in social media, communications and also finance.

FunPower is a start up founded by 3 University of Chicago students. The start up is to do with gamification of the fitness industry (The company is in stealth mode so we cannot disclose much right now, but we can discuss more if you're interested). Our product offering consists of a proprietary exercise device and an iOS app. The app would have the format of a game and would be used for tracking and monitoring the users fitness activities. We're looking for someone to join the team to build and manage the app aspect of the business. We've made some great progress until now. We already have an engineer with 30 years of experience at IBM on board. Besides him, we have a product designer from London with over 10 years of experience in the team too. Currently, we're participating in a number of competitions including the UChicago new venture challenge, Net Impacts Walmart better living challenge, Enactus Social Innovation Challenge, and the Clinton Global Initiative Conference. We are looking to fill the position soon so please let us know soon if you're interested! This will be a great experience for someone interested in working in the start up field and looking to get exposure to successful mentors and entrepreneurs. Besides that, if the intern demonstrates a good fit, there is an opportunity for a full time position in the team.
