As an intern with LIU Marine Miami, you will develop knowledge about the business through exposure to a functional area (such as claims, finance, sales/service, underwriting and/or IT). You will focus on developing the skills necessary for success by assisting professionals with day-to-day job assignments. You may be assigned to additional training or project work. The Company's internship program is intended to provide students from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to practice business skills learned in school while gaining work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop judgment to accept, reject or modify new and renewal business for all commercial lines, with guidance and direction as needed from experienced underwriters or team leader, to ensure a profitable commercial book of business
  • Price business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines and ensures standards for timeliness are met
  • Develop on-going relationships with internal and external customers andmonitor profitability and quality of submissions, and keeps up-to-date with underwriting and/or product changes.
  • Review and becomes familiar with:Policy coverages,Agency relationships,Underwriting and team guidelines, processes, and procedures,Company business strategy and organization

GIS Habitat Restoration Internship

About the Internship Position: Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's Policy and Education Programs. Save The Bay is working on ways to incorporate activities within our policy and habitat restoration programs with our education department to enhance experiential learning. To support this effort, we seek a GIS intern to create maps and a geodatabase that tie policy issues and habitat restoration activities in to local schools. This internship is an excellent opportunity for motivated individual to have a hands-on role in ecological restoration efforts, gain an understanding of practical GIS applications and experience using GIS in real world projects, receive experience with database and project management, and environmental problem-solving techniques. Compensation: Save The Bay Internships are unpaid. Save The Bay will work with your school to receive credit for your internship. This position would be 5-10 hours per week with flexible days. All Save The Bay Interns are also required to work at the Save The Bay Swim on Saturday, July 20.
