Position: Development/Major Gifts Internship Location: West Los Angeles Salary: Unpaid, college credit Term: 3 months, renewable Hours: preferred 20-35 per hours a week, minimum of 15 hours The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a non-profit health organization that addresses the challenges of people living with MS. The Society helps individuals affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. The Southern California & Nevada Chapter is looking for an enthusiastic Major Gifts Intern to become an integral part of the Direct Giving team. The Major Gifts Intern will help the Traditional Giving staff manage the Golden Circle campaign as well as assist with the Tribute & Memorial campaign and local Workplace Giving efforts. Golden Circle was created in 1993 as the Southern California & Nevada Chapter's elite annual gift campaign. Since that time, individuals, foundations and corporations have contributed millions of dollars to Stop MS in its tracks, Restore function that has been lost, and ultimately End the disease forever. This will be a great opportunity for the right candidate to jump on board and learn all aspects of a major gifts campaign.

This internship is designed to assist the National MS Society in raising awareness through communications and public relations work. Interns will work closely with the Director of Community Development and Outreach and the Communications staff. The intern will assist in promoting programs and events through press releases, media advisories, and calendar listings. The intern will play an active role in writing articles and collecting information for the Chapters bilingual newsletter. The intern will also see through to completion several pitch stories for event participants, donors, or clients.

Interns will acquire experience in health education, community development and health promotion, program planning, budget management, group presentations, and advocacy. While our focus is clients with MS, interns can research and learn about wellness topics and skills applicable to any setting. Minimum of 6 month commitment required.
