Covenant House was founded 38 years ago with the mission to help homeless kids. Today, Covenant House is the largest privately-funded agency in the Americas providing food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and essential services to homeless, throwaway, and runaway kids. Covenant House doesn't stop at offering an immediate safe harbor to homeless kids; we strive to move each young person forward down the path to an independent adulthood, free from the risk of future homelessness. Covenant House International owns and operates centers in four countries in Latin America to serve and rehabilitate homeless youth and victims of human trafficking. The Latin America Intern will be based out of Covenant Houses International Headquarters in NYC and must be able to read, write and speak in Spanish. Interns will have the exclusive opportunity to collaborate specifically with the Senior Vice President of Latin America as well as with our international program directors. The dates for the internship are flexible, though the minimum commitment is a semester and 20 hours per week.

In addition to food, shelter, clothing and crisis care, Covenant House provides a variety of services to homeless youth including healthcare, education, vocational preparation, drug abuse treatment and prevention programs, legal services, recreation, mother/child programs, transitional living programs, street outreach and aftercare. Founded in 1972, Covenant House has facilities in 21 cities throughout the US, Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua and has reached more than one million young people with immediate assistance and the support necessary to transition from a life on the streets to a life with a future. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual that is interested in obtaining hands on experience in the Human Resources Department of a large international non-profit organization.
