This is not an internship for people who arent independently motivated or are looking for a traditional office workplace (or a way to get work visa). This program requires participants to be serious about taking initiative, staying in contact, being willing to learn from and take critical feedback from their teammates, as well as be able to work with multiple partners (in locations around the world) within a virtual office space. (RST) was founded in 1978 and is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to resettling and providing social services to refugees and other displaced persons. RST resettles refugees, asylees, and victims of human trafficking from thirty different countries of origin with the majority of clientele currently originating from Burma, Bhutan, Iraq, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eritrea, and Somalia. Refugees are defined as individuals who flee their native countries due to persecution based upon race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group. RSTs mission is to provide quality services guided by principles of human compassion and dignity. JOB SUMMARY: The Match Grant Intern will assist the Dallas Office in activities such as donation management, outreach initiatives, networking, new apartment setups, and match grant collection. Interns will work closely with the volunteer and outreach coordinator to generate innovative ways of enhancing community involvement. Interns must be willing to learn about RST, local operations of the organization, and learn about refugee clients and their cultures. Interns must be sensitive to the cultural and personality differences of clients and be aware of the proper boundaries for interaction. This role will aim at developing students creative and editorial abilities while providing real-world experience. The site's editorial team will be constructing and executing a busy editorial calendar during he summer months. To do this best, our goal is to have a wide array of content (video & text) from of a variety of voices, 'Contributing Writers,' particularly actual college students like yourself. What is expected of a Contributing Writer? Whatever you can commit to. At this point, we have no budget and can not offer any form of monetary compensation. We understand that college students are busy and we want to have mutually-beneficial relationships with our writers. A typical Contributing Writer will commit to submitting 2-3 pieces of content every week, as scheduled by the editorial calendar. Description: Westside Homeless Partnership is seeking a responsible, creative, organized, compassionate individual, with excellent communication skills, to serve as our Social Media/Web Development Intern during the summer of 2013. Under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator the Social Media/Web Development Intern will develop and implement a social media footprint for WHP, introducing the agency to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the like and incorporating this platform into the agency website. The Intern will work to ensure that the strategic direction and message of WHP is executed consistently and properly in the social media sphere.
