Philadelphia Science Festival Internship

POSITION SUMMARY: Organized by The Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Science Festival is a community-wide celebration of science that takes place annually in April. The Festival features lectures, debates, hands-on activities, special exhibitions and a variety of other informal science education experiences for Philadelphians of all ages. For ten days, the prevalence of science and scientists in the Philadelphia region will be showcased, capturing the imagination of the public by working with local neighborhoods and highlighting the science happening throughout the city on a daily basis. A partnership between organizations of varying size and mission The Philadelphia Science Festival is a citywide event with programs and exhibitions taking place in each of the citys many neighborhoods, providing informal science programming accessible to every Philadelphia resident. The Science Festival Intern will be asked to: Support outreach efforts to schools and community groups oWorking with groups to creatively develop potential programs that will take place during the Science Festival Support Social Media and PR effort about Festival Programs Attend Festival Programs and support program evaluation efforts Support event planning for the Science Festival Programs Provide support to program partners as needed Support distribution of materials and information to teachers and community leaders Spring Only: Support event logistics at Festival programs, serving as a PSF representative Other duties as assigned EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Students pursuing a degree in the sciences or a degree in public relations, communications, marketing or event planning preferred.
