We are seeking a well-qualified individual for a Summer Internship in our Dispute Resolution, Case AdministrationDepartment in New York, NY. Job Summary:


The function of the intern will be to assist the Arbitration and Mediation departments in striving to provide excellent customer service in various areas of case administration. The intern will derive benefits from the in-depth knowledge he/she acquires regarding FINRA Dispute Resolution. This knowledge is invaluable to anyone who anticipates a potential career with FINRA, becomes an attorney who practices in the forum, or aspires to a career in the securities industry.



Essential Job Functions:


  • Assist Arbitration Case Administrators with review of case files, draft awards, close cases, act as liaison between parties and arbitrators to facilitate resolution of pre-hearing motions and requests, and prepare final arbitration fee assessments for the parties. 

  • Assist Case Assistants in various responsibilities, including preparing final fee assessments for settled/withdrawn cases, determine proper composition of panels, generating NLSS lists, checking for arbitrator conflicts, processing motions, analyzing pleadings, and answering constituent inquiries.

  • Assist with managing the mediation department roster by providing support and outreach for the mediation program in the New York region, quality control review of mediators, processing mediation requests, and recruiting mediators. 

  • Assigned other duties as determined by management. 

  • Assigned a primary summer project, which has been pre-determind by the department. Project findings to be presented internally at the end of the internship. 


Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Law student with an interest in Dispute Resolution and/or Securities Law.
  • Working experience in a financial, brokerage or investment environment is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with others to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.

Working Conditions:

Work is normally performed in an office environment.
