HQ Volunteer, Contracts (Microsoft Access)

Clinton Health Access InitiativeBoston, MA
Since 2002, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, CHAI (formerly the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative), has been assisting developing countries in implementing large-scale, integrated HIV care, treatment, and prevention programs. Our ultimate objectives are to make high-quality HIV/AIDS and malaria care and treatment available to all who need it, and to partner with governments and other stakeholders to strengthen healthcare systems and develop sustainable strategies to overcome obstacles to scale-up. The Contracts department processes contracts, grant agreements, and legal documents for CHAI. The department supports CHAI field teams and headquarters staff by reviewing, editing, approving, and tracking partnership contracts, funding agreements, legal documents, and country registrations. Partners to these agreements include donors, non-profit organizations, governments, drug and diagnostic suppliers, private sector businesses, vendors, and others. Documents are databased, archived and posted to appropriate intranet sites as a resource for global staff. The Contracts department is seeking a volunteer with extensive experience working with Microsoft Access and systems development/ knowledge management to lead a renovation of the departments two large Access databases, and to work on other special projects as needed. Volunteer will provide maintenance support to identify application enhancements and resolve defects. Volunteer will also establish new database attributes and work collaboratively in recommending and deploying additional capabilities for content management. The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is supported out of our Boston headquarters. CHAI headquarters staff are an experienced group of professionals, who work at a fast pace to handle a high volume of far-ranging assignments. HQ volunteers play an integral role in supporting our various administrative and programmatic departments. Each volunteer is truely needed - and appreciated. We look for volunteers who are highly organized and detail oriented, proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), have good written and oral communications skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. They should also be flexible and able to take initiative. We are committed to making this a very positive experience for our volunteers. We want you to be able to achieve your individual goals here, as well as to contribute fully to the workings of the office. Each term is a learning experience for us, too. We are proud that our staff now includes several past Volunteers. In addition, many of our volunteers have gone on to work in a variety of capacities in the private sector.
