2013 Summer Internship Program The AJWS Summer Internship Program is an opportunity for undergraduate students to work alongside AJWSs staff, experience the many mechanisms that come together to create an effective nonprofit organization, gain exposure to the progressive Jewish community and learn about Jewish perspectives on global justice and international grassroots development. The Internship Program aims to educate and mobilize interns to actively support the human rights of marginalized people in the developing world by raising awareness in and engaging interns around the issues affecting our partners on the ground. Interns are exposed to the entire spectrum of AJWSs work through their day to day assignments as well as organized learning opportunities such as: Lunch with AJWS president, Ruth Messinger Informational meetings with each member of AJWSs executive team and representatives from every department Lunch with one of AJWSs board members Brownbag presentations with speakers from AJWS grantees and volunteer service programs Lobby Day in Washington, DC to lobby members of Congress around AJWS issue areas Students interested in pursuing a summer internship at AJWS should email a cover letter addressing their goals for the summer and why they are interested in interning at AJWS, as well as a copy of their resume to internship@ajws.org. Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other illnesses. Based on the premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAIs teams are working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective treatment and care. The CHAI Rwanda program is currently seeking a highly motivated, flexible individual to provide technical support to the Rwandan Ministry of Health (MoH). The candidate will work the Rwanda Biomedical Centers (RBC) effort to improving their operational processes (with particular focus on drugs supply chain) and strategy definition. Candidates must have outstanding communications skills and cultural sensitivity, as they will be working closely with MoH partners. They must be able to manage multiple tasks and drive multiple work plans forward. They must exhibit a passion for results and commitment to excellence.
