Internships Available - Make a Difference & Support Women Entrepreneurs! Description: Womens Initiative for Self Employment is a Bay Area non-profit, which provides high-potential, lower-income women the training, resources and on-going support to start and grow their business. The business management training, technical assistance, and financial services we provide in English and Spanish improve the quality of life for the women we serve, their families and our communities. We are seeking talented and energetic individuals to support our work as interns. Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, self-starter who is interested in building her or his skills and gaining experience and insight into working at a nonprofit organization. Womens Initiative operates in a fast-paced environment, and we look forward to our interns leaving us in the dust and amazing us with their energy and skills. Interns, working a minimum of 10 hours each week for a period of no less than 15 weeks will support our offices by assisting in data entry, office management tasks, answering phones, and accomplishing day-to-day tasks necessary to keep our offices and work moving forward. All tasks and activities asked of interns relate directly to our mission and day-to-day work. Interns have the opportunity to support the following departments in their internship: Finance Events/Project Management Fundraising/Grant Writing Marketing/Communications Program Research, Evaluation, and Public Policy Executive Support Corporate Relations and Relationship Management Database management Interns will be placed in one of our Bay Area offices. Job Opportunities Women's Initiative Microenterprise Fellowship Program Apply for a Fellowship in Microenterprise Development in San Francisco, Oakland, Concord, Novato or San Jose Join one of the nations largest and most-respected microenterprise training organizations for an intensive Fellowship. Fellows will be accepted as part of a cohort that will help respond to the national crisis and economic downturn by helping low-income women start their own businesses and build their own financial security. Our Organization For more than 20 years, Womens Initiative has been providing low-income women throughout the Bay Area with the training, funding and ongoing support to start their own business and become economically self sufficient. In English and in Spanish, women conquer their fears of success, complete a business plan, learn technology, access capital, and meet influential and experienced business people who can help them succeed. The women who go through our program significantly increase their income and assets while launching businesses, creating jobs and stimulating the local economy. In 2009 alone, Womens Initiative graduates created 2,244 jobs in the Bay Area. The Opportunity Womens Initiative is pleased to offer the Microenterprise Fellows Program. This is a unique opportunity for recent college graduates and seasoned professionals alike to develop leadership skills in microenterprise development, microfinance, nonprofit management, evaluation techniques and social equality with the nations largest microenterprise organization. Microenterprise Fellows dedicate 10 weeks of service to Womens Initiative. The Winter 2011 program begins on January 24, 2011. Depending on interest and experience, Fellows will contribute their skills in the areas listed under "Responsibilities".
