Wireless Communications Software Engineer

Vanu, Inc.Cambridge, MA
VanuĀ® was formed in 1998 as a startup based on software radio technology developed at MIT. VanuĀ® is focused on technical innovation to enable cellular coverage in areas that cannot be covered profitably with existing technology. Vanu's software radio RAN solutions enable the rapid development of new form factors targeting specific market needs. For example Vanu recently launched the CompactRAN base station, which consumes only 50W of power and is targeted at bringing coverage to rural areas of India and Africa that dont have a traditional power grid. Vanu is seeking several summer students to work on a variety of projects, including: Upgrading our Continuous Automated Build Environment Vanu uses an internal automated build and test environment coupled with Tinderbox to provide continuous feedback during the development process. This system uses Linux shell scripting (Bash) and Python, which requires periodic maintenance, performance improvements, and extensions to target new processing platforms. Web-based Licensing Server Currently, we generate licenses for our products using a command-line tool. We'd like to provide certain partners with access to a web interface to that license generation tool. This web front-end would reside on a Linux server at our co-location facility. This front-end should ensure that only authorized parties have access to its functionality, that the generated licenses are delivered only to authorized users, and that all uses of the tool are auditable. We anticipate that this interface will be built using open-source technologies.
