Description
The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of a Special Events and Marking Internship in the Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will support the management team of the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event. The internship will give the selected intern a chance to earn valuable experience in event marketing and management, and community outreach.The Social Media and Marketing Intern will be responsible for various duties under the supervision of the Step Out staff and planning committee.
Responsibilities
• Managing and Utilizing Step Out Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and event website to maximize event participation and fundraising• Representing the Association at community events
• Responding to email and phone inquires about event
• Securing event in-kind donations
• RSVP calls and mailings to invitees for sub events
• Develop content for event newsletters, flyers, etc…
• Coordinate recruitment and promotional activities
• Recruiting and managing teams and participants
• Day of Event participation
• On-line support of walk participants
o Training participants on online fundraising
o Implementing targeted outreach plan to walkers
? Teaching walkers to set up fundraising page
? Downloading address book
? Sending e-mails
o Serving as main point of contact for frequent online fundraising issues
Requirements
• Excellent verbal and written persuasive communication skills• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects while maintaining an organized environment
• Possess a strong attention to detail
• Some experience making cold-calls is preferred
• Comfortable working in a team environment, but also capable of functioning independently
• Experience with Social Media and Microsoft Office Suite
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends (minimum 3 times per month)
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
