DescriptionThe Performing Arts Teaching Assistant will support the classroom instructors in a two-week long interdisciplinary performing arts camp for students ranging in age from 8 to 14. The camp, called Center Stage, will run August 5 – August 16 (Mon-Fri). This is an unpaid opportunity with the possibility of college internship credits or Federal Work Study through participating colleges and universities.
ResponsibilitiesWork directly with children aged 8-14 in an interdisciplinary arts classroom setting. Some Teaching Assistant responsibilities include gathering and preparing materials for class, giving students individual encouragement and technical assistance and escorting children throughout our building and Shadyside compound.
RequirementsPotential candidates will be able to effectively manage a classroom of up to 20 students, work as a team member, be reliable, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. The assistant must have experience or education in acting methods, stage direction and/or playwriting.
Experience working with children and Act 33/34 are clearances required.
