DescriptionFreight Farms is a modular farming startup company that is working to create local food
supply at a commercial volume. Freight Farms introduces a scalable farming platform
that can be operated anywhere. Our units are made from up-cycled shipping containers
and make food accessible in environments where farming has never been possible.
We are a small team with a congenial work environment where work and play are both
Freight Farms seeks an intern with experience in writing, public relations and social
media, preferably within a startup environment. We are looking for an open-minded
individual with a strong work ethic and interest in our company. The most successful
intern will bring experience and new ideas to the company, and will be willing to take on
a variety of tasks as needed, in addition to ongoing projects specific to communications.
We are looking for an intern who will be a strong ambassador and advocate for Freight
ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Communications intern will include writing press
releases for company events and updates, and managing company outreach to the public
and the media. The Communications intern will communicate company updates to
relevant journalists, and help expand our network of journalists who have worked with
Freight Farms. The Communications intern will manage the company’s social media
presence, including Facebook and Twitter, and write posts for the company blog. Freight
Farms is a small startup company, so the intern will also be expected to help in other
areas of the business as needed, including sales, marketing and operations.
