Sears Holdings seeks bright, motivated students for Fashion Design, CAD & Graphics, Pre-Production and Technical Design internships in our NY Design Center. Interns will be encouraged to participate in all aspects of apparel design with exposure to many facets of the fashion industry. We are currently screening applicants for internships during May-August 2013.
Design Intern
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES CAN INCLUDE:
Responsible for supporting the design team in all aspects of creating and executing the seasonal collection (from concept to final proto samples)
Sketch flats in photoshop/illustrator
Maintain fabric, trim and original store bought sample libraries
Maintain showrooms, closets and samples in good condition for use by the design and merchandising team
Assist in preparing board presentations and visual set ups to be ready for meetings
Assist in creating tech packs
Spec proto samples to ensure they are up to standards, i.e. measurement, checking pattern layouts, yarn, color and quality standards
Design, recreate, manipulate, recolor prints, and resize artwork
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Matriculated in a Bachelors degree program in apparel design (rising juniors, seniors, or graduating in 2013)
Team player with the ability to handle high stress work environment
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multi-task
Basic garment or accessories construction knowledge required
Proficient with the following programs: Photoshop, Adobe
Illustrator, Excel, Word
Responsible, creative and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
